Pletnev receives 2nd-classification Russian honour – Slipped Disc

The pianist and conductor Mikhail Pletnev has been awarded the Order of benefit for the Fatherland, 2d degree, at a live performance marking the 30th anniversary of his Russian national Orchestra.

The award was made through the minister of tradition, Olga Lyubimova.

Vladimir Putin, who always seems for high Russian musicians, despatched no message.

Pletnev, sixty three, has maintained his marginality and independence within the Russian kleptocracy.
