Russian disqualified from Tango competitors over ‘punch’

ARGENTINA: A Russian participant on earth Tango Championships in Buenos Aires has been disqualified for violence against his partner, the organisers said Wednesday (Aug 21).

The incident took place after the duo, a husband and wife, took part in the semi-remaining of the competitors on Tuesday in the Argentine capital.

Organisers condemned the assault plus "assisted the victim and made the choice to disqualify the dancer", noted a source with the Championships who declined to be named.

officials did not identify the couple so as "to keep the identification of the victim who declined to file a criticism."

The woman "was no longer disqualified however could not continue competing as a result of she had no partner", the supply said.

A feminist circulate campaigning in opposition t tango's macho culture, the Feminist Tango flow, condemned the incident and referred to several witnesses had viewed the person "throw a punch at his dance associate".
